Two weeks about the baby's sleep, and day 13 is about the adults' sleep, because the math does not add up otherwise: a well-cared-for baby needs caregivers who function, and nobody functions for months on an endless night shift. Truly dividing the nights means treating them as the household's job, with a system, not as one person's fate.

The day also covers sleep deprivation as a real physical state, the micro-strategies that add up, the signs that exhaustion has become something deeper, and guilt, the most universal and least spoken feeling among caregivers.

What you'll learn in the 3 chapters

  1. 1

    Truly dividing the nights

You will meet three ways to divide, shifts within the same night, alternating nights and division by task, the two rules that apply to any of them, and the arrangement for those caring without another adult.

  2. 2

    Caring for the caregiver

This chapter adds up the strategic nap, the official low bar, concrete help and a minimum weekly recharge, and repeats the limit: sadness that does not pass and anxiety that does not switch off call for a health professional.

  3. 3

    Guilt: the conversation nobody has

Here guilt is taken apart in three moves, where it comes from, what it really says, and the question of facts that disarms it, because babies need real caregivers, not perfect ones.
