Day 4 of 14 · Understand
Wake windows
What a wake window is · Windows by age, an honest guide · How Naplet calculates and signals your baby's window
This is the summary of day 4. The 3 full chapters, with the practical actions, are in the course inside the app. In the app: 7 min read across 3 chapters
A wake window is how long a baby can comfortably stay awake between one sleep and the next. It is the central concept of the course, because it explains most naps that go well and most that turn into a fight: too early, the baby has no sleep pressure yet; too late, they are past the point and fighting their own tiredness.
On this day you learn to recognize the sweet spot, see the approximate ranges by age without becoming a slave to a table, and discover how the app does the math for you from the sleep logs you already keep.
What you'll learn in the 3 chapters
- 1
What a wake window is
You will understand the image of a tiredness battery that fills with every minute awake, and why sleep comes easily only when it is at the right level, not before and not after.
- 2
Windows by age, an honest guide
This chapter presents the typical ranges from newborn to the second year as a starting point, not a rule, and shows how to calibrate your own baby's real window in a week of observation.
- 3
How Naplet calculates and signals your baby's window
Here you see how the Wake Window card on the Home screen uses the last logged waking and the baby's age, why it is a co-pilot rather than a boss, and how the cues from day 3 always get the final word.
